Yet these two took about 4-6 hours a piece + ~5 hours to render a piece. 2 hours to 3d model for animation and 14 hours to render on my computer. That said, drawing animations in the past has been a delight to work with. 3D is a lot of work too however once an asset is made you can re-use it pretty much forever.Īs a disabled person I find 3d to be easier to sustain, as it is slightly painful for me to draw. But it is a lot more work too when it comes to physically presenting work. 2d is good at creating content, conveying ideas, and can be 'dumbed' down in many ways. 2d is great for creation of ideas, 3d for making them a reality.

The learning curve for 3d art is steep, however it is more cost effective for me in the long run. My artwork is not professional grade per say, but it is at the point where I have to start getting into 3d animation if I want to glean the most out of my effort. I ask because I am at the point where it is time for me to commit to 3d or 2d animation artwork. Those numbers will only have increased since then, and while there will be plenty of other movies on many of those standard screens the vast majority, if not the entirety of the 3D screens, will be dedicated to The Force Awakens for the first couple of weeks at least.What is your preference when it comes to animation? 3d or 2d?
